The Issue

A well-known and much loved product was being renovated in order to improve the healthiness credentials of its recipe in anticipation of the introduction of new Government Regulations.

Research was required to quantify the potential alienation risk amongst existing users as well as providing robust diagnostic feedback on product performance and optimisation.

What we did

In-home product testing to reflect real life product use over an extended placement. This technique allows all family members to participate in the study and allows the product to be eaten at the usual time of day.

Although some differentiation was found to exist between the current and new recipes, this was not having any effect on enjoyment of the new recipe among existing users.

Consequently, we were able to robustly recommend that the new, more healthy recipe could replace the current recipe.
